Bansilalpet Stepwell

Bansilalpet Stepwell, also called Naganah Kunta is a 6 level stepwell in Bansilalpet area of Secunderabad. It displays the development of water centric human settlements of Telangana. The plan is similar to wells of Kakatiyan period and dated back to 17th or 18th century. During the British period, the brick boundary wall with arches was built around the wall periphery. There was also a well planned model village developed around the well, funded by Seth Bansilal. Restoration of the stepwell was taken up by the GHMC(Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) from 2021 to 2022 and opened to public on 5th December, 2022.

There is also a museum with 3 galleries displaying the various items extracted from the debris in the well and also the photos taken during the restoration. Only 50 visitors are allowed at a time in the gallery and there is a ticket of Rs.50/- per head. Entry is fee for children up to 5 years of age. The visitors are allowed only up to one level and cannot get below that. There is only limited parking near the Stepwell as it is in the midst of residential area. There is an Amphitheatre area behind the galleries with a lawn area and events can be conducted there with a maximum 120 guests. Sound system to be closed by 8.30 pm and Amphitheatre/garden is closed by 9 pm. The legal sound level of 50 decibels to be followed.

Timings : 10.00 am to 1 pm and 4pm to 8 pm from Tuesday to Sunday and the Stepwell is closed on Mondays.
