Mahabodhi Buddha Vihara

Mahabodhi Buddha Vihara is a Buddhist center located in Mahendra Hills area of Secunderabad on a hill. The main hall/temple, Ananda Buddha Vihara or Chaitya/Shrine was consecrated on 6th April, 2003 by His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama. It is affiliated to the Maha Bodhi Society, Bengaluru. There are a few monks and trainee monks who stay here.

There is a stupa called the Buddha Dhatu Stupa which was inaugurated on 13th January, 2019 at the entrance similar to Sanchi Stupa and depicts to life of Buddha in the architecture around the Stupa. Bodhi tree complex is also situated just next to the Stupa which has a big Bodhi tree(pipal tree). There are a few steps to reach the main temple, which has a Buddha Statue and a big meditation hall. There is also a lift for those who cannot climb the steps.

Buddhist Monks are trained at the Mahabodhi Buddha Vihara to further take the teaching to the people. Buddha Poornima is celebrated in a Grand way and also every full moon day is celebrated as Uposatha day. The view from the top is amazing with a good view of the city. There is some parking space near the temple for 4 and 2 wheelers.

Temple timings : 8 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm every day.

Guided Meditation : Every Sunday 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm
