Places to visit in Maredumilli

Maredumilli in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh state is around 430 kms and 9 hrs drive from Hyderabad. It is close to the town of Rampachodavaram around 25 kms and also around 80 kms from Rajahmundry or Rajamahendravaram. It is a beautiful place with waterfalls and other places to visit. One can spend 2-3 days at this place. The famous movie Pushpa was shot in these surroundings. Below are the places to visit in and around Maredumilli:

1. Rampa water falls: There is a small trek to go to this waterfalls and there is also gazebo kind of place to rest. This is close to the Siva temple around 3 kms from the town of Rampachodavaram. The water flows through the rocks and is quite clean. There is an entry ticket of 20/- for adults and no charge for kids. Need to take a right while coming from Rajamundry towards Maredumilli.

2. Jalatarangini water falls: There is a proper entrance gate to this waterfall and the ticket charge of Rs.20/-. It is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily. There is a trek of around 150 m to reach the waterfalls and it is multi-tiered. It is around 7 kms from Maredumilli bus station.

3. Amrutadhara water falls: Around 15 kms from the Maredumilli bus stand, this is a beautiful waterfall and one needs to trek down a steep pathway around 1 km to go to the waterfall. There is a ticket to enter this waterfalls and the charge is Rs.20/-. It is open from 8 am to 5 pm daily.

4. Rampa Shia temple: There is an old Siva temple close to Rampachodavaram town and is believed to be few hundred years old built in 12th century. There is a series of pillars under which we pass through, to reach the Siva linga. There is an old lady who maintains the temple. This temple is around 2 kms from Rampachodavaram town and on the way to Rampa water falls.

5. Manyam view point: One can have a very scenic view of the hills and the greenery around the view point. It is around 13 kms from Maredumilli bus stand and in between Jalatarangini and Amruthadhara waterfalls. There is a small platform to view the scenery.

6. Sokuleru Vaagu View point: This is a scenic view point on the way to Bhadrachalam after the ghat road and around 30 kms from Maredumilli gives a panaromic view of the Sokuleru Vaagu(stream of water). It passes through the hills and deep forest. There is a platform built near the view point to view this scenic place.

7. Bhupathipalem reservoir: Around 4 kms from Rampachodavaram town and 21kms from Maredumilli, this reservoir is an earthen dam constructed on Seethapalli Vaagu. The reservoir is surrounded by trees and we can also see a few trees in the water and the reflection of the same can be seen in the water.

Overall, a beautiful place to visit for nature lovers and there are quite a few resorts to stay here.
