Trip to Maredumilli and Bhadrachalam

Kids had Chritmas holidays for only two days and we had 4 days long weekend including Saturday and Sunday. We zeroed in on Maredumilli in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh state and Bhadrachalam in Telangana for the 4 day road trip. Maredumilli was around 430 kms away and 9 hrs drive from Hyderabad and I prepared wife and kids for this long drive at one shot. They had been on drives for upto 5 hrs so far but not this long yet. Had a look at few resort options and booked the room at Birds Nest resort.

Day 1: Started from Hyderabad(Hi-tech City area) around 7 am in the morning and had breakfast at Aadhya Grand on the way after Chotuppal. Reached Vijayawada around 12.30 pm and had lunch there. Then started towards our destination, Maredumilli. On the way, went to CR Reddy College of Engineering in Eluru where I studied and showed it to my family members. It changed a lot in these many years. Also, went to the room where I stayed for 4 years during my Engineering days and met Owner Uncle and Aunty. They felt very happy meeting me after a long time.

Reached Birds Nest resort in Maredumilli around 6.15 pm. Checked in to the room and kids played in the swimming pool and water rides. This is the resort where the crew members for Pushpa movie stayed as most part was shot here. Had dinner after that. There was no mobile signal there and it was like unknown these days but thought it was good in a way to be away from gadgets and spend some quality time with family.

Day 2: Woke up early in the morning and went for a morning walk on the road with woods on either side which was amazing in the forest area. Came back to the room and all of us spent some time roaming around the resort. It had a stream of water flowing just behind and the water was very clean. There was also a view point, a swing made of tyre, huge log of tree, etc. Took some photos, had breakfast and went for site seeing around the resort. There was an old Shiva temple at Rampachodavaram town near by and also Rampa water falls. From there went to Jalatarangini and Amrutadhara water falls. There was Manyam view point on the way. Had lunch at a restaurant there and came back to the resort. Had dinner and slept.

Day 3: Went for morning walk in the woods again for the second consecutive day and there was lot of fresh Oxygen around. Came back to the resort and checked out around 10 am. Started to our next destination, Bhadrachalam which was around 120 kms and the road was very good after crossing the ghat section which was around 20-30 kms. Reached Bhadrachalam around 2.30 pm, had lunch and checked in to a hotel. The room was very small for 2+2 but that is the disadvantage of booking online. So thought of adjusting some how as it was only for one night. Visited the famous Bhadrachalam Sri Seetharamachadra Swamy temple around 4.30 pm and there was not much of queue. Had Darshan within 30 mins and from there went to the Godavari ghat nearby. This was a long pending item in our TO-DO list with family and could go there at last. Had dinner in a nearby restaurant and came back to the hotel room.

Day 4:  In the morning, visited Parnasala, the place where Goddess Sita was believed to have been abducted by Ravana in the Ramayana period. From there came back to the hotel room, checked out and started our journey back home to Hyderabad. On the way, went to Kinnerasani dam and wildlife sanctuary. Reached home around 10.15 pm.

It is a good 4 day trip for those who are looking for a getaway with family/friends from Hyderabad. Click here for more road trips.
