Sri Adinarayana Swamy Temple, Kodakanchi
Sri Adinarayana Swamy Temple, Kodakanchi is located in Jinnaram Mandal of Sangareddy District around 40 kms from Hyderabad and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is also called Sri Sridevi Bhoodevi Sametha Sri Adinarayana Swamy temple and is Swayambu(self manifeted) along with Garupmantha idol on the ground floor. It was built in 10th century CE and similar to Kanchi temple in Tamil Nadu, it has the golden and silver lizards on the wall touching which would relieve one of doshas because of lizard. In Telangana folklore, it is said that even if one is not able to visit Kanchi in their lifetime, visit Kodakanchi. It has a huge Peepal tree, pool(kolanu/gundam) and is surrounded by fields. There is also a lake next to the temple and gives a very peaceful atmosphere.
It is believed that Lord appeared in the dreams of Allani Ramoji Rao around 1000 years back and told him that his idol can be found in Mambapur forest area and that should be worshipped. They went in search of the idol and found it in a hole. They then got it to Kodakanchi and they found the idol already on a small hillock which is where the current idol is.
It also has idols of Siva linga along with Nandi and Lord Hanuman in a small temple just outside the main compound under a huge Neem tree. It has a very old gopuram at the entrance and the main temple which is on top of a rock has some newly built platform. It is around 8 kms from the Sultanpur ORR exit number 4.
Temple timings : The temple is open from 6 am to 11 am(but open till 12 noon mostly) and again from 4 pm to 6 pm every day.
