The state of Maharashtra is famous for the rich cultural heritage and old/historic temples including a few Cave temples like Ajanta, Ellora and Elephanta caves. 1.  Sri Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga Temple, Bhimashankar – Dedicated to Lord Siva, it is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples which are considered to be sacred for Hindus. It is located in Bhimashankar which is 120 kms from Pune and 190 kms from Mumbai.

2. Sri Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, Trimbak, Nashik – Dedicated to Lord Siva, it is also one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples which are considered to be sacred for Hindus and is located very close to Nashik around 190 kms from Mumbai.

3. Sri Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, Ellora – Dedicated to Lord Siva, it is also one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples which are considered to be sacred for Hindus. It is located very close to the famous Ellora caves around 415 kms from Mumbai and 40 kms from Aurangabad.

4.Shirdi Sai baba temple, Shirdi – Dedicated to Sai Baba it is located in Shirdi which is 240 kms from Mumbai and 94 kms from Nashik.

5. Sri Shanaishwar Temple, Shani Shingnapur – Dedicated to Shani Mahadev and is one of the biggest temple dedicated to Shani Dev and located around 70 kms from Shirdi.

6. Shri Renuka Devi Temple, Mahur – Dedicated to Goddess Parvathi and is one of the 18 Mahashakti Peethas. It is located in Mahurgad around 640 kms from Mumbai and around 120 kms from Nanded.

7. Sri Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai – Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, it is located in the city of Mumbai

8. ISKCON Temple Juhu, Mumbai – Dedicated to Lord Krishna and situated in the Juhu area of Mumbai, it is maintained by the ISKCON group.

9. Shri Kailasa Temple, Ellora – Dedicated to Lord Siva, this is the largest of the 34 caves in Ellora and is carved out of a single rock. It is located around 415 kms from Mumbai and 40 kms from Aurangabad.

10. Shri Ambadevi Temple, Amravati – Dedicated to Goddess Ambadevvi, it is situated at the heart of the city of Amravati at Gandhi Square.
