Pancharama Kshetras

Pancharama Kshetras or Pancharamas or Pancharamalu are the 5 temples of Lord Shiva and believed to be scattered parts of one single Shiva Linga. These are believed to be installed and worshiped by Hindu deities Indra, Chandra(Moon) and Surya(Sun) along with Vishnu and Kartikeya at five different sites in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Pancharama kshetras photos can be found below. These places (or Aaramas) are as follows:

1. Amararama: Amararama is located in Amaravati village in the erstwhile Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on the banks of River Krishna. This linga was installed and worshipped by Lord Indra. This is the only Pancharama temple here and the remaining four are in Godavari districts (two in East Godavari and the other two in West Godavari). The linga is quite big here and white in colour.

Lord Sri Rama worshipped Lord Shiva here, followed by Lord Surya and Indra and is called the Bhimeswara Swamy temple. This temple complex also houses the Manikyamba Devi temple which is one of 18 Shakti Peetams. The linga can be viewed in 2 parts from ground and first floor.

3. Somarama: It is located in Bhimavaram town of West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh state. Also called the Someswara Swami temple it looks new, and has a holy pond called Chandra kundam. Lord Chandra got rid of his sins here by worshiping Lord Shiva. Hence the name Someswara Swami. Annapurna Mata temple is on the second floor.

4. Ksheerarama: It is located in Palakollu town of West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh state. Ksheerarama Lingeswara Swamy gave Sudarshana chakra to Lord Vishnu here. Upamanya Maharshi got boons and milk from Lord Shiva, hence the name Ksheera(milk) Ramalingeswara Swami.

5. Kumararama: It is located in Samarlakota town near Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh state. Kumara Bhimeswara Swami is a very old temple and Lord Shiva is in the form of very big Shiva linga which can be seen from the first floor. It is believed that Lord Kumara Swami laid down Shiva Linga here and hence the name Kumararamam.
